Mostly it’s a big scam, and I’d stay away from it.

There are actual jobs as mystery shoppers. I work at a grocery store and we have mystery shoppers come in once or twice a month. I also know a lady who used to do it. She said it was a waste of time and it’s not worth it. So much paperwork.

I do not know how to get into it though. Sorry.

I just started doing mystery shopping in August, got my first check a few days ago. . . . for $13.50. (This was just for one mystery shop though.)

The site that I go through, you can do up to 4 shops per day, and they vary for payment amount. Usually they’re between $5-$12, and then if it’s a food place, they’ll reimburse you for food.

I don’t know about making $5000 a month. I just do it for fun in addition to my full time job. It’s fun to get free stuff and free food, and I only choose the shops that are close to home. I suppose if you did the maximum per day, and didn’t worry about how far you had to drive, you could make a decent amount of money.

More like a couple hundred if you really work it. Most shops only pay $8-$13, once in a while maybe $20.

You go to a website, fill out the forms, take the test to see if you can pay attention, check the list, apply for a shop.

If you get it, you then get instructions on what to do. Sometimes you have to pay, then you get reimbursed.

You only get paid IF you do the shop correctly, and fill out the forms correctly, and don’t get identified as a mystery shopper. This includes reimbursement.

For me, it wasn’t worth the hassle. Here are some sites to check out if you want.

This one list shops for many different companies, so you can check out the basics before you sign up.
